ACLU Sues 70-Year-Old Christian Flower Shop Owner for Refusing to Participate in Gay Wedding

Front Page Mag: “The ACLU took in 63 million dollars in 2011. It has net assets of almost 300 million dollars. Anthony Romero, its Exec Director, takes in 342,858 dollars.

Like most bullies, the ACLU picked a target its own size, Barronelle Stutzman, a 70-year-old woman who runs a flower shop. For those who think that gay marriage can be folded on, the case of Arlene’s Flowers provides another sobering wake-up call.

Homosexual activists are not looking to live and let live. They are out to force their way on everyone else at any cost. Even shamelessly going after a 70-year-old woman who was only following her faith.”

Opinion: This is the second case of this nature in recent months. The first was a Blaze article (link below) about a bakery shop owner in Oregon who faces a state investigation after refusing to make a same-sex couple’s wedding cake.

In each case the baker and florist expressed their belief in Biblical principles as the reason for declining the business. Aaron Kline of Oregon said “I believe that marriage is a religious institution ordained by God, a man should leave his mother and father and cling to his wife … that to me is the beginning of marriage.”

Barronelle Stutzman,  the florist said, “When it came to doing his wedding, I said, ‘I could not do it because of my relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Depending on the Supreme Court’s ruling which is expected in June, it seems to me that this is just the beginning. The supposedly tolerant progressive left just cannot stand intolerant people, to the point that they just won’t tolerate it any more. So get those lawyers ready because there a lot of pastors, ministers and priests out there that are just as intolerant as Aaron and Barronelle.

Genesis 18:22-33  is a fascinating passage in which Abraham bargained with the Lord on behalf of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah. After pleading with the Lord, Abraham left and returned home. There is a great lesson for us all to pray and plead for our nation as Abraham did for Sodom.
