USA Today: “Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced Thursday that the military will no longer discriminate against transgender troops, knocking down one of the last barriers to service based on sex.

The move, nearly a year in the making, came despite last-minute concerns were raised by top brass about how to deal with the medical, housing and uniform issues for troops who are transitioning to the other sex.

There are between 1,320 and 6,630 transgender troops in the active-duty force of 1.3 million, according to Agnes Schaefer, the lead author of a RAND Corp. study commissioned by the Pentagon on the issue. Of those troops, RAND estimates that between 30 and 140 would seek hormone treatment, and 25 to 130 would seek surgery. The estimated annual price tag: $2.4 million to $8.4 million, per year.”

OpinionAnd as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all (Luke 17:26–27).

A 1985 commercial “The Marines Are Looking For A Few Good Men” just came to mind. But the 2008 “Be All You Can be” Army slogan was by far the most effective recruiting tool and one that could fit today, especially since the army will no doubt pay all costs associated with transitioning.

“Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.” Luke 17:28-30

According to James Ussher (1581-1656), the famous and respected Archbishop of Ireland in the seventeenth century, the world was created in 4004 BC.

Noah’s flood was calculated  to be approx. 1600 years later, and Abraham and Lot were on earth approx. 350 years after that.

Luke’s message then, covers a span of 4000 years to the birth of Jesus in 4 BC.

So here we are 2000 years later, and on the edge of the Millennial reign of Christ, which when completed will add up to 7000 years. God’s perfect number for completion.

Like the days of Noah and Lot, the people today are unconcerned about the depravity going on all around them and mock the judgment that is sure to follow.

Perhaps, “Be Anything You Want To Be” might fit the new Army even better.
