Front Page Mag: Was former secretary of labor and assistant attorney-general Tom Perez’s victory over Congressman Keith Ellison over the weekend in the race to serve as the new chairman of the Democratic National Committee a victory of centrist Democrats over radical leftists in the party? Opinion: Tom Perez is proof that Barack Obama is still in control of the Democrat party. From 2009-13, Perez served as Assistant Attorney General under Eric, fast and furious Holder.
Perez handiwork as Assistant AG:
- The Black Panthers voter intimidation case – dropped
- Race-baiting lawsuits against municipalities to force them to scrap written tests for police and firefighters for affirmative action hiring – allowed
- Military ballots — and the federal efforts to delay those serving in harm’s way overseas from exercising their right to vote — allowed
- The civil rights harassment suits against Sheriff Joe Arpaio, whose only “crime” was trying to enforce existing U.S. immigration law — allowed
The ballot was very close. Perez eked out a victory over Keith Ellison, the first United States Senator to be sworn in with his hand on a Koran, and with known ties to the Louis Farrakhan’s anti-Semite Nation of Islam fringe group.
Ellison will serve as deputy to chairman to Perez. The far left progressive magazine Mother Jones explained: “There’s truly not much ideological distance between the two.”
