Israel is seeking to annex a zone of 860 square kilometres (330 square miles) of disputed waters between the two neighbours which is believed to be rich in natural gas reserves, Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported on Monday.
The maritime border has been a hot button topic for decades, as the two countries are technically still in a state of war. UN and US brokered talks over the years have failed to settle on a definite border. more …
Opinion: Prime Minister Golda Meir’s 1973 quip, “Moses dragged us through the desert for 40 years to bring us to the one place in the Middle East where there was no oil”, is no longer a joke.
When asked if she believed in God, Mrs. Meir answered “I believe in the Jewish people, and the Jewish people believe in God.”
It is therefore safe to assume that Israel’s first woman Prime Minister knew nothing of these three prophecies:
- Genesis 49:25
- Deuteronomy 33:19
- Isaiah 45:3
Offshore from Gaza is the Leviathan gas field, which, in 2010 was called the most prominent field ever found in the sub-explored area of the Levantine Basin, which covers about 83,000 square kilometers of the eastern Mediterranean region.
When coupled with the Tamar field, in the same location, discovered one year earlier, they give Israel the resources to become a net energy exporter in 2018-20.
Experts speculate that there could be 1.4 billion barrels of recoverable oil under that gas (here).
Ezekiel 38:13 records that Israel will be attacked over plunder or tremendous wealth.
Ezekiel 38:1-2 tells us the invasion will be led by Russia. It is no coincidence then that Israel’s new wealth threatens Russia’s economy the most, or that Russia’s state owned energy giant Gazprom is heavily dependent on revenue from supplying natural gas to the EU and Turkey.
That Israel’s natural gas is expected to be commercially ready to export in two years and is in ongoing talks with the EU, is the perfect backdrop for war.
