JPost: Over the past year we have witnessed the molding of a new Middle East, in which Israel plays a significant role. The term “New Middle East” was coined by Shimon Peres who, after the Oslo Accords were signed with the Palestinians in the 1990s, envisioned a new era in which Israel would be integrated in the Middle East in the political and economic fields.
Although the Arab world rejected this term as an Israeli attempt to achieve dominance in the region through non-military means, Israeli diplomacy made progress toward this end by scoring substantial achievements in the region. more …
Opinion: We have been hearing a lot of that lately. A new president with a new vision for Middle East peace. A new deal that will bring Sunni Gulf states together. New attitudes from the leaders of Jordan and Egypt. And, drum roll ……….. even a new Abbas wants peace!
When the dust settles, all the new hopes and dreams of ME peace will have to deal with very old: Jerusalem.
How does any man solve Jerusalem?
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.” Zechariah 12:3
The entire Arab world, over 1.5 billion, encompassing Sunni and Shia, agree that a made-up people group called Palestinians, should be the rightful owner of the City of David.
These descendants, of the guy who traded the land for a bowl of soup, have been taught that from birth. I would imagine most of them have no idea why they want Jerusalem so badly, but they are more than willing to kill and be killed for it.
Then we have the secular progressive left who also want the hapless Palestinian people group to have that particular land – but they know why. They are against anything that belongs to God and and they are willing to see another holocaust, if need be.
‘”And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.” Zechariah 12:4
If we are on the verge of a peace deal, exactly like the one Daniel 9:27 prophesied 2500 years ago, the exit of the Church of Jesus Christ (1 Thess. 4:16-18) is very near indeed.
