Fox News: President Trump outlined a comprehensive new strategy Monday night for achieving a “lasting peace” in Afghanistan – rejecting what he called “arbitrary timetables” for the U.S. troop presence, ratcheting up pressure on Pakistan to stop harboring militants and vowing to refocus the mission on “killing terrorists,” not nation-building.
“From now on, victory will have a clear definition: attacking our enemies, obliterating ISIS, crushing Al Qaeda, preventing the Taliban from taking over Afghanistan, and stopping mass terror attacks against America,” Trump said, in a primetime address to the nation.
The speech made clear he is keeping U.S. troops in the country – he said they will “fight to win”. more …
Opinion: I would have loved the speech — prior to writing my first book. It was Reaganesque, tough, and showed a determined plan to let his generals actually win.
The problem is that I don’t think that either the president, his generals, or his advisers, understand the enemy. This enemy is Edom (Genesis 36:1), and its root can be found in two blessings given by Abraham’s son Isaac to his twin sons. Despite the trickery that Rebekah and Jacob played on Isaac, God intended that the older twin would serve the younger.
“May God give you heaven’s dew and earth’s richness an abundance of grain and new wine.
May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed.” Genesis 27:28-29 NIV
“Your dwelling will be away from the earth’s richness, away from the dew of heaven above. You will live by the sword and you will serve your brother. But when you grow restless, you will throw his yoke from off your neck.” Genesis 27:39-40 NIV Emphasis added.
Esau’s descendants are still on a rampage over the blessing, and the lost birthright. His vow to kill Jacob (Genesis 27:41) is playing out in headlines daily. There have been 31,612 deadly terror attacks since 9-11 here.
Esau will meet his end at the return of Jesus Christ: Isaiah 63:1-3; Revelation 19:13-16.
Jacob’s descendants will be blessed during the millennial reign of Jesus Christ: Zechariah 14:4, 23:9; Revelation 20:1-2
A tragic number of soldiers and civilians will die because of a lack of understanding of God’s word.
Somebody call somebody.
