JOL: Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah held a cabinet meeting in Gaza on Tuesday morning as part of efforts to reach reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas. PA President Mahmoud Abbas said in an interview with Egyptian television: “There will be no Palestinian state without unity and reconciliation.”
The meeting was supported by the United States and its Arab allies; though Israel has not released its official position on the issue, it did allow the PA leadership and entourage to cross from the West Bank into the Gaza Strip. more …
Opinion: So the United States is supporting the reconciliation of two terror groups residing inside Israel who disagree on who should run things, but definitely agree that the Jews should be pushed into the Mediterranean Sea.
Some things never change:
In the 6th century BC, the Jews had pushed God’s patience to the limit. The prophet Isaiah had warned them 150 years earlier:
“Behold, the days are coming when all that is in your house, and all that your fathers have laid up in store to this day shall be carried to Babylon, nothing shall be left,’ says the Lord” (Isa. 39:6, 750 BC)
Approximately 100 years later, the prophet Jeremiah issued a second warning:
“And the whole land shall be a desolation and a horror, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years” (Jer. 25:11).
In perfect fulfillment of the prophecies (Amos 3:7), Nebuchadnezzar’s armies marched into Jerusalem, destroyed the city and Sanctuary, and marched the Jews to Babylon for 70 years.
The descendants of Esau had been pushed out of their ancestral homeland in Mount Seir, in what is today southern Jordan, by a tribe known as the Nabateans. Unable to go due west to take on the more powerful Egyptians, the Edomites traveled northwest and settled in the lush pasturelands of Judea during the Babylonian captivity of the Jews. During the time of Roman rule, the Romans named the area to the south of Judea “Idumea”, due to the preponderance of Edomites.
The smallest book in the Bible, Obadiah, gives an account of the Edomites in league with the Babylonians actually helping to destroy the temple and capture any Jews who tried to escape. Obadiah pronounces God’s displeasure and future judgment:
“… And no survivor shall remain of the house of Esau” Oba. 1:18
What we are seeing today are the descendants of those same tribes trying to regain their ancestors’ lost birthright, Genesis 27:41
Incredible, isn’t it?
