Opinion: I saw this headline last night when I was supposed to be watching a Netflix series with Editor about a Russian occupation of Finland.
Editor is used to it by now. It’s really funny, we watch a series, my laptop next to my favorite chair and I proceed to miss 90% of the plot and annoy her when I continually ask what happened.But North Korea is so interesting. While there is no Biblical prophecy that fits a US/NoKo war, the global markets seem to thrive on the tension.
In normal times the lack of market response meant that nothing would come of it. But these markets are being supported by central banks, so it is conceivable that if the bankers say so, war could be good news, reinforcing an old Wall Street saying: Don’t fight the Fed.
There have been major market corrections in 1987, 1997, and 2007, that occurred in the month of October, reminding me of another Wall Street saying in every correction: It’s different this time.
