DC Episcopal Diocese To Stop Using Masculine Pronouns For God

Daily Wire: God will no longer be referred to as He or Him in the Episcopal Church Diocese of Washington, D.C., which passed a resolution last week barring all use of masculine pronouns when referring to the Almighty. They will be updating their Book of Common Prayer as a result.

According to LifeSiteNews, the resolution called for an end to “gendered language for God” and was passed quickly by delegates to the Diocese’s 123rd Convention.

“If revision of the Book of Common Prayer is authorized, to utilize expansive language for God from the rich sources of feminine, masculine, and non-binary imagery for God found in Scripture and tradition and, when possible, to avoid the use of gendered pronouns for God,” the resolution stated.” more …

Opinion: That progressive liberalism is overtaking the denominations that embrace replacement theology lines up with Genesis 12:3: I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you …”.

God’s promises to Israel have not been replaced.

Last week the United Church of Christ (here) sent a group, which included two women pastors, to ‘bless’ abortion clinics and ‘offer prayers’ for the doctors and nurses performing abortions: “God of grace and God of glory, in whom we move and live Keep them safe and keep them strong. And may they always know that all that they do is for Thy glory.”

Last week the Catholic church made a deal with the Chinese government to allow communist officials to select church bishops.

And now the Episcopal church has decided that God is something other than Father, which makes a mockery of the Lord’s prayer.

All three are replacement theology churches.

We know that God transcends gender, and that we cannot grasp the fullness of His being; yet, calling Him Father is what He asked us to do. He is our primary Source of life. We are made in His image, not God in our image. And He chose to reveal Himself to us as Father.

“What is a Christian? … the richest answer I know is that a Christian is one who has God as Father.” “… everything that Christ taught, everything that makes the NT new, everything that is distinctively Christian, is summed up in the knowledge of the Fatherhood of God.”  J.I. Packer

Renaming God for politically-correct agendas is idolatry.

The Church at Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-22) is just around the bend.

  1. Gandhi once said, “I like your God. I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your God.” He must have had a hammer and nail that day because he hit it right on the head.

Christianity was never an invention of God’s. He did not call everyone to become a “Christian”. He just told us to devotedly follow Him. Christianity was invented by man as something to play with and form into our own toy to play with and mold into what we want God to become.

Catholics and Orthodox churches had proven that since the dawning of what is known as religion. Church beliefs give life to nothing more than division, while the Word gives life to truth. Huge difference! I had recently spoken with a “pastor” of a United church. They told me that they believe and teach that the Holy Spirit is a female. The spiritual mother of Jesus. They said that the trinity is the perfect model for family … Father Mother and Son. I stopped the conversation there and walked away because I was feeling physically ill at the sound of that.

So many churches like to think they have the authority to believe what they choose. They could not be more wrong. The ONLY things they should believe are what is distinctly written in the Bible. Nothing less, nothing more.

  2. Psalm 37: A little harsh, but by and large you are “on the main.” Churchdom (Christianity) can be divided into two spheres – Church (Big “C”) and church (little “c”). The true Church is spiritual and its composition is known only to the Bridegroom. Some characteristics of Big C is a noted leading of the Holy Spirit; a lay ministry that is not hampered by the Church hierarchy (unless heresy is apparent); presentation of the full Council of God (mainly an occasional presentation of Bible prophecy); and – this is very important – the view that the doxological centrality of Scripture is the Glory of God, not just the redemption of man (The angelic realm needs to be cleansed, all creation healed from the burden of sin, and the fulfillment the covenant promises to His covenant people the Jews). A humble and contrite spirit is needed for this kind of Church fulfillment. Note, in Rev 2, the Church of Smyrna. This Church had no condemnation against it. It was the apologetic Church of persecution and prayer. Also, as VS has noted, the Church of Philadelphia whose persecution is of a different nature – one of fighting against the “idols” of this world which include the subtleties of Satan. Poor in the eyes of the world but rich in the eyes of the Messiah. No condemnation for these folks also.

Church little c, most of the visible church, comprises the man induced “DOs and DON”Ts” that create confusion and uncertainty. By and large, little c developed almost over night in the fourth-century when the Roman Empire adopted Christianity as the state religion. The persecuted prayerful Church became the privileged church of position and power which allowed man (Origen, Augustine, et al.) to interpret Scripture through the use of the allegory; thereby, allowing a myriad of interpretations of Scripture, primarily in the area of prophecy. Man now becomes the authority over Scripture and not God. Hence, a majority of the visible church today is subjugated to a man inspired authority over Scripture; consequently, one encounters a huge crook of religious nonsense as noted in today’s feature presentation by the author. Think about it. Starting at the pinnacle with the Roman Catholic church, the church today – in its own eyes – has become the doxological centrality of Scripture dictating what is “sound doctrine” and what isn’t. Many Protestant churches also fall into this category where the “educated” paid clergy tell you what to believe, and most pew sitting Christians are too lazy to be good Bereans to seek out the Scriptures for themselves. Note that 2 Thes 2 foretells of a great apostasy where many will fall from the faith in the latter days. We are now living in those days!

[Sorry for the lecture, but I needed to put this in words, as much for myself, as for anyone else. This is part of a teaching I am developing to hopefully wake up some of the church in my neck of the woods. Like Thelma and Louise racing toward the canyon drop off at 100mph, the church can’t see if the canyon 2 miles away or 200 miles away. Their response is likely to be “what canyon?”]

  3. BTW, if the HS is a “she,” how does that square with Scripture when Mary is told that the HS will “come upon her” so she can give birth to the Messiah. The HS would have to be a He. See how the blatherings of man inspired interpretation corrupt the meaning of the Word!

  4. wow, Centurion! I wish I was in your Bible study. Thanks for posting your comment. I started a comment about Church, big C and little c, but deleted it. Glad I did. :o) You said it all much better than I could have.
