Al Monitor: As the situation in Syria heats up among all players — including Israel — Turkey and the United States so far have limited their exchanges to a war of words. However, signs aren’t encouraging that it will end there.
Decision-makers in Ankara have toughened their rhetoric against the United States, and many senior figures in the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) are hinting at the possibility of armed confrontation between Turkish and US soldiers.
“If US soldiers wear the garb of terrorists and hang around with them, and if they attack Turkish soldiers, no doubt we will not have a chance to distinguish between them,” Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said last week.
In a Feb. 6 speech before AKP parliamentarians, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, speaking to the United States, “Get out of Manbij. We will come there to deliver the land to its true owners.” more …
Opinion: We need to keep an eye on Turkey. Not so much because of a potential US/Turkish war, but because of how nations are coalescing just north of the mountains of Israel as prophesied Ezekiel 38:8.
The road to Gog and Magog will have many twists and turns, but Ezekiel 38:1-6 listed the nations that will participate, and while Turkey is in the thick of it, the US is not.
Ezekiel 38:13 records that the war is over Israel’s wealth, which Ezekiel prophesied would be so vast that it would put ‘hooks in the jaws’ of Russia, Iran, Turkey and North African Turkish allies to mount a massive invasion to get to the plunder.
“On that day it shall come to pass that thoughts will arise in your mind, and you will make an evil plan: You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— to take plunder and to take booty …” (Ezekiel 38:10-12).
I have often thought the wealth would be oil and gas, which is both Russia and Iran’s primary source of income, while Turkey is a net importer.
Three prophecies: Genesis 29:25; Deuteronomy 3:9 and Isaiah 45:3 may point to oil as well.
How ironic that yesterday a small oil company, Zion Oil, drilling near Megiddo, the site of the final war of Armageddon, announced that in their current drilling operation they “encountered free-flowing hydrocarbons (oil and gas) while circulating drilling mud”.
Until now, Zion has had one dry hole after another.
While it will be some time before the the company can drill further to see if there is commercial value in the hydrocarbons, it raises speculation that when Gog and Magog happens, Israel will be far wealthier than it is today.
