JNS: “Welcome to the State of Palestine. The only state whose land is still under occupation by another country, the State of Israel,” declared Palestinian Authority Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki (pictured) in his keynote address on the opening night of Christ at the Checkpoint 2018.
In this revisionist approach to Scripture, which was repeatedly applauded by those Christians hosting (Bethlehem Bible College) and attending Christ at the Checkpoint, all those many New Testament passages confirming that this land is the homeland of the Jewish people are ignored, or completely tossed out.
Modern Israel is labeled a “colonialist” project, so it’s not possible to recognize the Jews’ forefathers as having inhabited this land long before any Arabs were present, just as it is not possible to openly acknowledge that Jesus himself was a Jew, born in the Jewish town of Bethlehem. more …
Opinion: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.” Joseph Goebbels
I use to wonder how educated men, heads of state, and religious leaders, could believe such nonsense as the ‘occupation’? How is that an entire people group with no history sprang up demanding to be recognized, with ancestry that never existed, and people believe it?
But it is rather simple really, when the authority of Scripture is allegorized and spiritualized, causing entire congregations of Christians to doubt its literal meaning.
Answers in Genesis founder, Ken Ham, says the deception begins with the first book of the Bible:
Once the creation record is doubted, the covenant God made with Abraham is easy to ignore:
“And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you. Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.” Genesis 17:7-8
With the OT relegated to stories instead of recorded events, by the time the reader gets to the New Testament everything is up for private (2 Peter 1:20) interpretation …
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Matthew 2:1-2
… even a new people group.
