Oslo Accords: Strategic Disaster Or Future Fulfillment Of Prophecy?

Jewish Press: Simply put, Oslo was the worst strategic disaster in Israel’s history and we have yet to fully extricate ourselves from the damage it continues to wreak.

The tragedy began when, with reckless disregard for logic, morality or even common sense, then-prime minister Yitzhak Rabin and foreign minister Shimon Peres tossed a lifeline to PLO chairman Yasser Arafat and magnanimously agreed to give him control over parts of the Land of Israel in exchange for an empty promise of peace.

Overnight, the reviled revolutionary, whose resumé included ordering plane hijackings, school massacres and the slaughter of civilians, was granted international legitimacy. more …

Opinion: Someone needs to add at least two more disastrous Israeli decisions:

  • Moshe Dayan’s decision to give the Muslim Waqf control of the Temple Mount in 1967
  • Israel’s land for peace deal in Gaza in 2005

But, I’m not so sure that we have seen the last of the failed 7 year peace treaty called the Oslo Accords, here’s why:

Daniel 9:27 “Then he shall confirm a covenant with many for one week;
But in the middle of the week
He shall bring an end to sacrifice and offering …”

The clue is in those first six words that a re-drafted or strengthened Oslo could fulfill the prophecy:

  • Then he – The small h indicates Antichrist
  • shall confirm (Hebrew gabar – prevail, strengthen, exceed, stronger)
  • a covenant (Hebrew bĕriyth – league, confederate with, monarch to subjects

Then the details:

  • week (Hebrew shabua`- a heptad of 7 years
  • middle of the week (Hebrew chetsiy – midst – 3.5 years)
  • bring an end to sacrifice (Hebrew zebach – covenant animal sacrifice)

In Daniel’s 70 weeks prophecy (490 years – Daniel 9:24-27) the precise year of the Messiah’s arrival on a colt in Jerusalem is given. The angel told Daniel to count 483 years (69 weeks) from the edict (445 BC) to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem when Messiah would be cut off (killed 32 AD).

The last remaining 7 years would commence when Antichrist (he) signs a peace treaty (covenant) between Israel and her enemies beginning the tribulation period.

In the middle of the week (3.5 years) Antichrist will declare himself god, put an end to animal sacrifice beginning the great tribulation (Matthew 24:21).

Animal sacrifice can only take place in a temple, indicating that there will be a third temple and that the last 7 years of the law are being fulfilled. The church is the age  grace, not law, indicating it will not be present (rapture 1 Thess. 4:16-18) for any of the 7 years.

A revised stronger version of Oslo fits Daniel’s prophecy like a glove.
