JOL: Three million Sunnis are taking refuge in and around the city of Idlib in the north of Syria. Syria, Russia, and Iran are tempted to attack the city, but the pressure from the west is growing to not make a move.
The occupying forces are now gathering around the north-western province of Idlib, where there has been a series of rebel groups and extremist combatants, many of whom are considered “terrorists” by the world’s powers.
Russia and Iran insist that Idlib’s extremist groups must be defeated and they will support their own forces in the event of an attack. The dissidents in the city are the only remaining resistance to Assad’s totalitarian government. If they wipe out the city it will be viewed as an ethnic cleansing ‘en masse’. more …
Opinion: Donald Trump: “President Bashar al-Assad of Syria must not recklessly attack Idlib Province. The Russians and Iranians would be making a grave humanitarian mistake to take part in this potential human tragedy. Hundreds of thousands of people could be killed. Don’t let that happen!”
What do Russia, Iran and Syria all have in common?
- All three countries have a foothold in Syria
- All thee countries are under US sanctions
- All three countries are prophesied to attack Israel together
The prophecy is from Ezekiel 38-39 called Gog and Magog.
Ezek. 38:1-3 “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Son of man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal, and prophesy against him, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal.”
There is agreement among Dispensational prophecy scholars:
- Gog is a prince of (Rosh) Russia; a title of a strong leader.
- Magog is the 2nd son of Japheth (a son of Noah) who settled in what is today Russia
- Josephus, the first century Jewish historian, identified the offspring of Magog as the Scythians (Edomites from Judea and Persia) who were known as brutal, horse-riding nomads that resided in the area of modern-day southern Russia and East Ukraine.
- Meshech and Tubal, once a part of Turkey.
The prophecy has nothing to do with Idlib but everything to do with the alliance between these three countries, and all three being in proximity to the mountains of Israel.
Ezekiel 39:1-2 “Son of man, prophesy against Gog and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshek and Tubal. I will turn you around and drag you along. I will bring you from the far north and send you against the mountains of Israel.”
To the north of Israel are the mountains of the Golan Heights, one of the most contested pieces of real estate in the world. Israel recaptured the Golan in the 1967 war and the Arab world, supported by the progressive left, want Israel to return it to Syria despite the disaster that occurred when Israel returned Gaza in exchange for peace. The Golan is also the place where a gigantic oil field was discovered in 2016.
