Zero Hedge: Russia is attempting to woo European countries like Germany into a program of reconstruction cooperation in Syria, where broad swathes of the country have been destroyed through seven years of grinding proxy war; however, Pentagon officials have charged Russia with wanting to “seize” Syria’s oil and gas resources.
This comes as the United States has resolved to keep its over 2,000 troops in the east of Syria while vowing zero reconstruction aid so long as Iranian troops and advisers are present in the country. This week a top US military official even went so far as to accuse Russia of seeking “to take advantage in any way they could” and that a “great power competition” for Syria will continue to shape its post-war future.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Leah Lauderback, who served as director of intelligence for Operation Inherent Resolve until June, told an Army conference that “Great power competition was an objective by Russia,” and that specifically they are looking to “seize” oilfields in Syria.
Opinion: “By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you With blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.” Genesis 49:25
I can’t help but imagine a future headline “Russia To Seize Israel’s Oil and Gas Fields” which will mean that a second prophecy is about to be fulfilled.
“You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will go to a peaceful people, who dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates’— 12 to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land.” Ezekiel 38:11-12
Russia’s economic life-blood is oil and natural gas. Since 2010 Israel has had one energy find after another, the last of which is a massive oil find in the Golan Heights that Israel is downplaying for obvious reasons.
Not coincidentally, in the past weeks Russia has installed multiple S-300 missile defense systems in Syria as the riff over the shooting down of a Russian jet with 15 Russians aboard continues to grow.
Also not coincidentally, on October 17 it will have been 30 days since the last Israeli air strike was conducted against Iranian targets in Syria, and the shooting down by Syria of the Russian IL 20 spy plane. Russian-Israeli relations remain poor and seem unlikely to go back to their old friendly nature.
The road to Gog and Magog:
- Israel wins a regional war and the walls and gates come down Ps. 83; Ez. 28:8-11
- Israel becomes exceedingly wealthy Ez. 38:12
- The Russian alliance attacks Ez. 38: 13
- No nation comes to Israel’s side Ez. 38:13-16
- Israel wins a miraculous victory Ez. 38:21-23
