Most Israelis believe a divided capital is already a foregone conclusion

JPost: “As the debate over whether to divide the capital intensifies amid terrorist attacks that have politicians and security personnel scrambling for solutions, most Israelis believe that the model of a unified Jerusalem has failed, a poll found this week.”

Opinion: Joel 3:1 “For behold, in those days and at that time, When I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem”

  • Those days – Last days
  • At that time – The imminent physical coming of the Lord
  • The captives – The end of the Diaspora when all Jews are back in the land

Joel 3:2 “I will also gather all nations, And bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; And I will enter into judgment with them there On account of My people, My heritage Israel, Whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land.”

  • Gather all nations – Reference to Luke 21:20 Jerusalem is surrounded by armies
  • Valley of Jehoshaphat – Possible future valley formed by the splitting of the Mount of Olives (Zech 14:4)
  • Judgment – For the treatment and scattering of God’s covenant people among the nations and  dividing God’s land

The prophet Joel is describing the end of human history as we have known it and the dawn of the Millennial Kingdom, the 1,000 year reign of Christ on the throne of David in Jerusalem.

  • The time when God fully and completely restores the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem
  • The time when the Jewish people will be greatly esteemed

“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘In those days ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, “Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.” Zechariah 8:23
