Opinion: Interesting timing. At the request of Pastor Dan, we began a prophecy class last Wednesday night at his home for 15 church members, 7 of which have have taken our class before and 8 were new members.
When I asked those who had taken the class why they wanted to take it again the response was: there was a lot they had forgotten and there is a lot going on in world events relating to Jerusalem.
According to Pastor Greg Laurie, his interview with Bible scholar/author Don Stewart of Calvary Chapel on Bible Prophecy is the #1 requested program (here) for 2017. So what is going on? Why is prophecy no longer for the kooks at the back of the church?
Part of the answer might lie in the December 6 announcement by President Trump declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. And it also may be because the Holy Spirit is prompting.
My first week with a new group is an introduction to the course. Over past year Editor and I have expanded Bible Prophecy 101, by adding new modules in and attempt to drill deeper into chapter three ‘Doctrines That Divide Christians’, and to show how Israel and the Church are two separate and distinct entities in God’s plan.
We will be sharing the new additions with you after we try them out with this class.
Week two is chapter 2 of Bible Prophecy 101, ‘God Uses Numbers in Prophecy‘, which could not be more timely due to the 666 point drop in the stock market on Friday.
Excerpt: #6: The number of man; it falls short of perfection (7). In six days God created the world. Man was created on the sixth day. Goliath had 6 fingers and 6 toes. His spear weighed 600 shekels of iron. His height is recorded as 6 cubits and a span. Jesus was crucified on the 6th hour of the 6th day of the week. The numbers 666 represent the Antichrist, the spiritually incomplete man multiplied 100 times over.
We get a closer look at the beast or Antichrist, the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), who is indwelt by Satan after a false resurrection in Revelation 13:1-8 as the great tribulation spoken of by Jesus begins.
In Revelation 13:11-17 we are introduced to the False Prophet, a high ranking member of the clergy: He causes those on earth to worship the beast and “causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
John ends the chapter with this: “Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.”
So we can say Friday’s stock market drop of 666 (rounded up) points was a coincidence, or, like President Trump’s Jerusalem announcement, we can say it confirms the lateness of the hour.
A Google search of the 666 point drop in the stock market shows over 1,140,000 hits.
