Is Homosexuality the Cause of Catholic Church Scandals?

The New American: Now that former high-ranking church official Archbishop Carlo Vigano has turned whistleblower on the Vatican’s knowledge of Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s sodomitical career — allegations that Pope Francis has so far refused to answer — liberal defenders are rushing to the pope’s aid. Consider the New York Times for example: “Francis Takes High Road As Conservatives Pounce, Taking Criticisms Public” reads an August 28 headline in the print edition.

Author Jason Horowitz paints a picture of Pope Francis under attack by “Catholic traditionalists” who are supposedly “infuriated” by the pontiff’s efforts to “nurture a more welcoming church and shift it away from culture war issues, whether abortion or homosexuality.” Horowitz reminds readers: ‘Who am I to judge?’ the pope famously said, when asked about gay priests.”

That quote naturally begs the question: Is sodomy at the root of the sexual abuse epidemic? The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops says it is not. more …

Opinion: Homosexuality is part of the scandal. But there is more:

The day Pope Benedict resigned, February 18, 2013 was one of the biggest days this blog ever had from a reader count. Even prophecy scoffers wanted to know if the time of the end had come. Of course it had not, but the web was rife with rumors that a homosexual lobby had so corrupted the RCC that Benedict, a conservative, was finished.

But Benedict was also no friend of Islam. Think back to 2013-14, when Barack Obama was at the height of his power. Hillary was a shoe-in for president, and Benedict had given a 2006 speech that had the Islamic world and the US mainstream press who protects it, in a frenzy.

So what was this outrage over?

The German pontiff cited an obscure medieval text that characterizes some of the teachings of Islam’s founder as “evil and inhuman”, imagine that! Muslim passions were so inflamed that fears of another outbreak of anti-Western protests grew.

Meanwhile in Washington D.C., the progressive establishment was unhappy with Benedict, what with Obama preparing a nuclear deal with Iran. Benedict was a liability.

And, back in Rome …

In a renowned Italian geopolitical magazine called Limes, Professor Germano Dottori had argued that Joseph Ratzinger’s 2013 abdication, and the former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi’s resignation in 2011, after a financial storm sold to public opinion as a “public debt” crisis, were the result of pressures on the part of Obama administration in the United States.

According to Dottori, Obama was eager to dethrone Benedict XVI for two reasons.

  1. Obama’s presidency was close to fundamentalist Islam (de facto fostered by regime change in Libya and Egypt and civil war in Syria, provoked by U.S. former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy design)
  2. Benedict had been identified internationally as a strong opponent of Islamism,  ever since his famous Regensburg lecture. (source)

The Obama administration in conjunction with the liberal establishment in the EU was able to kill three birds with one stone: fostering scandals within the Church, a financial scandal in the Italian government, and paving the way for a new pope that would be friendly to both gays and Islam.
