Opinion: The Roman pontiff not only ignores Biblical history, but secular history, as well as the Catholic principle of subsidiarity, which determines that “a community of a higher order should not interfere in the internal life of a community of a lower order.”
The great prophet Daniel prophesied 4 globalist empires that became wicked and collapsed. It is Daniel’s 4th empire, Rome, that began to fade out in the 4th-5th century AD which Daniel indicates is revived in the last days.
- Babylon fell to the Medo Persian empire as detailed in Daniel 5
- Medo Persia fell to Greece after King Darius lost three battles with Alexander in 331 BC
- Greece was divided into 4 empires after the death of Alexander at age 32 in 323 BC
- Rome began to fade away after the death of Constantine the Great in 331 AD.
- Between AD 406 and 419 the Romans lost a great deal of their empire to different German tribes
With the revival of Rome, Daniel prophesied that the empire would have a leader with 10 crowns, indicating 10 divisions with an 11th leader, whose mouth spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows (Daniel 7:20).
Daniel said this global empire shall be different from all other kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, Trample it and break it in pieces (Daniel 7:23).
Daniel is describing the revived Roman Empire and the final dictator called Antichrist. John the revelator picks up in Revelation 13:11 with a second-in-command …
“Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed”
… a high ranking member of the clergy who will cause all those on earth to worship the beast.
Past Roman emperors called their second in command, Pontifex Maximus.
