Times of Israel: Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday said his country’s military, with Syrian assistance, retrieved the remains of Israeli tank commander Zachary Baumel, allowing them to be returned to the Jewish state nearly 37 years after he went missing in the First Lebanon War’s Battle of Sultan Yacoub in 1982.

“Russian Army soldiers found the body in coordination with the Syrian military,” Putin said, during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Two years ago, I asked you to help us find the bodies of missing Israeli soldiers, and you responded in the affirmative. I want to thank you, my friend, for what you have done,” Netanyahu told Putin. more…

Opinion: Friend or opportunist? Did Vladimir Putin get over the 2018 incident in which a Russian jet was downed killing 15 Russian soldiers by Israel over Syria ?

September 18, 2018: BBC “Russia blames Israel after military plane shot down off Syria”

Russian/Israeli relations were in shambles for months until late November when Israel, Cyprus, and Greece signed the EastMed pipeline agreement making Israel a competitor in natural gas sales to Europe as soon as 2025.

Ever the opportunist, Vladimir Putin, cannot afford to have Israel take away the one customer that is holding the Russian economy together, setting the stage for Ezekiel’s war. Putin now is making a grand gesture to be friends with Israel by helping bring a war hero’s body home.

(Have you come) “to take plunder and to take booty, to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited, and against a people gathered from the nations, who have acquired livestock and goods, who dwell in the midst of the land” Ezekiel 38:12.

Look at how much prophecy is in that verse. Ezekiel had already identified, by their ancient names (Ezekiel 38:1-6), each nation that will attack Israel in the last days. Ezekiel tells us Russia will lead the coalition with “hooks in the jaw”.

Ezekiel  “to take plunder and to take booty”. What booty? Could it be Israel’s massive natural gas find of 2009 that is now being made ready for commercial use? Could it mean the Golan oil find of 2017 that nobody is talking about?

Then Ezekiel says “to stretch out your hand against the waste places that are again inhabited”. Israel was uninhabited of God’s chosen, except for a remnant, for 1800 years. The land had been barren because it had little or no rain while the Jews were out of the land, in fulfillment of Deuteronomy 28:23. The rains came back in the early 1900’s and the land became inhabited again in 1948 with Israel’s rebirth.

Look at the leery expression in Netanyahu’s eyes in the top picture and the concern in his eyes in the second picture. As an Old Testament Bible student, he knows the prophecy.
