Time for Israel to End the Occupation?

Jewish Press: Israel ended the occupation of Gaza in 2005 which led to the strip being taken over by terrorists who have been attacking Israel ever since. Fourteen years later, the Gaza situation is still not resolved. This experience demonstrated what an unconditional and unilateral withdrawal by Israel looks like.

Unlike Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, Israel has not extended Israeli law in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank, and there is no serious proposal by any leading Israeli politician to annex these territories. The reason is obvious. If Israel annexed all of Judea and Samaria, it would have to choose between two unsavory options:

  • Adding a significant number of Palestinians to its citizenry, therefore placing its status as a Jewish state and a haven to the world’s Jews at a high risk.
  • Creating an apartheid system where non-Jews have lesser rights than Jews. more …

Opinion: Conundrum. Imagine how amazed the world will be when one man solves the problem and confirms that peace has come to the Middle East after 3000 years. Don’t just imagine it is going to happen, it will.

And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease …” Daniel 9:27.

The ‘he’ in this most amazing passage is Antichrist, who will confirm, not create a peace plan for 1 week (Hebrew shabua – 7 years). Bible teachers have long speculated that the failed Oslo Accords (7 year peace plan) could be redrafted.

Over the coming weeks (7 day weeks), we will begin to get a look at the ‘deal of the century’. So far there is no hint of a 7 year time frame.

Back to Daniel. In the middle of the week (3.5 years), he, Antichrist, shall cause animal sacrifice to cease, meaning it will have started in the 3rd temple (there can be no animal sacrifice except in a temple).

The last 7 years of this age are a time suspended from Daniel’s 70 weeks (490 years) prophecy that was ‘cut off’ at 483 years when Jesus was killed. The last 7 years (tribulation, Day of the Lord, Daniel’s 70th week) will commence only after the church has vanished (1 Thess. 4:16-17) and the peace treaty signed.
