Oswald Chambers, a Scot, was converted as a teenager under the ministry of English preacher, Charles Spurgeon.

Chambers’ Bible-teaching ministry took him throughout the United Kingdom, the United States, and Japan from 1906-1910.

Later, he ministered as YMCA chaplain to Australian and New Zealand troops serving in Egypt.

After his unexpected death at age 42, due to a ruptured appendix, Chambers’ wife carefully recreated his sermons and studies from her verbatim shorthand notes.

More than 40 books were published posthumously. One of them, My Utmost For His Highest, a devotional we have been reading for more than 20 years, is the source of today’s Study.
