Times of Israel: Israel has decided to bar US congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from entering the country, following fierce debates on the matter in the Prime Minister’s Office, Channel 12 reported on Thursday.

The unconfirmed report, which did not cite a source, said the final decision was being drafted and passed around for revisions before the move is publicly announced.

The reason cited for the move is reportedly “suspected provocations and promotion of BDS,” a reference to the anti-Israel boycott movement. more …

Opinion: Last week 41 Democrat members of Congress went to Israel on a trip sponsored by American Israel Education Foundation, a branch of AIPAC. The delegation met with prime Minister Netanyahu and PA president Mahmoud Abbas.

Unlike their Republican counterparts who visited Israel, there was an eerie silence and an absence of tweets that can only be explained by a recent survey which shows that a majority of Democrats support sanctions against Israel over settlements, even as the House votes overwhelmingly to condemn the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign.

Some might call that straddling the fence and complete ignorance of the rightful owners of the land of promise (Gen. 18:18, 17:7-8).

Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, anti-Semitic firebrands, decided to make a show and book a separate trip beginning tomorrow. Omar and Tlaib are open advocates of BDS which is best described as economic jihad against the Jewish state.

The decision to bar entrance to members of the US Congress is a first for Israel and a clear message to any foreigner who knowingly issues a public call for boycotting Israel. Amen to that.

The political fallout should be interesting.

  1. Can’t go around spewing hate and discontent about a country and then expect them to welcome you with open arms.
My guess is that the decision to ban them was based on security concerns. Could you imagine if something were to happen to a sitting muslim, palestinian immigrant, US congresswomen while on a visit inside of Israel?
Whose to say that this congresswomen would not be tempted to visit the Gaza border riots and then boldly join in and try and lead an incursion across the fence. All the while thinking that she might be untouchable because of her status. One shot could change the US-Israeli relationship which would, I’m sure, please the PA to no end.
Heck, for that matter, the PA might be willing to take that shot if they thought that they could blame it on Israel.
