MSN: Congressional Republicans, under pressure to respond to this weekend’s massacres, appear to be coalescing around legislation to help law enforcement to take guns from those who pose an imminent danger — a measure that, if signed into law, would be the most significant gun safety legislation enacted in 20 years.
“Red flag” laws such as this might not be as momentous — or controversial — as the now-expired assault weapons ban or the instant background check system, both of which were enacted in 1994 as part of President Bill Clinton’s sprawling crime bill. But they may be politically feasible.
With President Trump endorsing the idea, a number of Republicans — including Senator John Thune of South Dakota, the No. 2 Republican — are embracing the concept. Mr. Thune told his hometown newspaper, The Argus Leader, that he was “confident Congress will be able to find common ground on the so-called red flag issue.”
Opinion: A red flag law is a gun violence prevention law that permits police or family members to petition a state court to order the temporary removal of firearms from a person who may present a danger to others or themselves.
Sounds like a suicide prevention law, but the Glenn Beck program video above suggests something much more.
At least 17 states now have approved some version of a red flag law, including Florida, New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana and California. Before the 2018 mass shooting at Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., only five states had such laws.
It all sounds so logical until one realizes that none of these laws will prevent a person that wants to kill another person/persons from doing so. California, with some of the most stringent gun laws, did not prevent the Garlic Festival shooting that left 4 dead and 13 wounded.
In London, when guns are banned, kitchen knives are all the rage.
“It was widely reported earlier this month that London experienced a higher number of murders over the first three months of 2018 than did New York City—the first time in modern history that has occurred.
The United Kingdom has some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the world, so the increased murder rate in the British capital is largely a result of a sharp rise in knife-related crime.” source
Chicago’s tough gun laws did not prevent 11 murders/63 wounded last weekend, and Baltimore’s strict gun laws did not prevent the city from becoming the murder capital of the country.
Is it likely criminals will turn in their guns to be good citizens?
It all fits the Biblical timeline. A global authoritarian leader is prophesied to come bringing peace (Rev. 6:1-2), but will bring war (Rev. 6:3-4), financial chaos (Rev. 6:5-6), followed by famine and death (Rev. 6:7-8). He will have just 7 years to fulfill a whole lot of prophecy,. Guns in the hands of the nation’s citizens will necessarily be eliminated.
